Sound familiar?

Bangkok is huge. Your trip isn't.

  1. 01

The same 10 places as everyone else

You open TripAdvisor or a “top 20 in Bangkok” list — and end up in a crowd of tourists at the same temples.

  2. 02

    200 saved reels

Cafés, bars, shops — all buried in your saved posts. And when you're hungry near your hotel, you can't find a single one.

  3. 03

Half a day lost to research

Where to have breakfast, how not to get overcharged by a taxi, which area to stay in — questions eat the time you want to spend exploring.

The guide solves all of this in one evening.

I've lived in Bangkok since 2022 and have already been through the trial and error — the overpaying and hundreds of places visited. You only get the best of it.

For runs, yoga and monitor-lizard spotting — plus one park worth leaving the city for.

  • 06

    Pet-friendly

A trusted dog hotel, a vet clinic with English-speaking doctors and dog parks with pools. We moved here with our dog — we know.

My top 4 and hacks: the best bread, the best ready meals, and where they will slice a watermelon for you.

  • 08

  • 09

    Apps

Taxis, food delivery, marketplaces, cleaning and beauty services — what to install before you land.

  • 10

  • 13

    Local bloggers

The closest island to Bangkok with white-sand beaches: how to get there, where to stay, which beaches and cafés to pick.

  • 15

    Khao Yai

  • 16

    Movies about Thailand

Around 40 films shot in Thailand — fall in love with the country before you even fly.

Who it is for

This guide is for you if you…

  • Are planning a trip

You are building your itinerary and want cool, non-touristy places. The guide covers every practical question: transport, food, shops, malls and apps.

  • Already live in Bangkok

You want to know the city better and never ask “where should we go?” again. Open the guide and pick a place.

  • Love weekend escapes

Dedicated chapters on Koh Larn and Khao Yai — for a break from the big city.

  • Appreciate local brands

No need to live in Bangkok: order anywhere in Thailand via Lazada. Skip the fridge magnets — bring home real gifts.

A little taste — for free

A few tips so you know what to expect

  • “No spicy”, please

If you do not eat spicy food, always ask for no spicy or no chilli. If a dish can not be made mild, they will tell you.

  • “Taximeter?”

Ask before the ride. A green light on the windshield means the taxi is free, red means taken.

  • Always wear a helmet

Ask bike taxi drivers for a helmet. Not keen on a shared one? Wear a bandana underneath.

  • The Flying Rabbit

Flying Rabbit from any pharmacy or 7‑Eleven — in case Thai food turns out a bit too adventurous.

Olga Rudik Living in Bangkok since 2022
About me

Hi! I'm Olga

I first came to Bangkok in 2018 and fell for it instantly: colorful, alive and endlessly varied. In 2022 my partner — who had travelled almost all of Asia before we met — and I moved here together with our dog Tito.

We spent a year in a pet-friendly condo and then rented a big house on the edge of the city. Along the way many people followed me, and the questions started repeating: where to eat, where to live, how to get around, where to go for the weekend.

That's how this guide was born. You won't find the first Google results here — only modern, aesthetic places I genuinely love. If my style on social media resonates with you, you'll love the guide too.

  • Olga, the guide is amazing — thank you again! We've been here a few months and I knew most places, but I still discovered something new 💖 Turns out we live near the spa from your list — we'll try it this week. And we'll grab the croissants too, they're nearby 👌

    Koh Larn

    Xanadu Beach Resort

A simple hotel with one big advantage: it sits right on one of the island's best beaches. Wake up, grab your swimsuit, and you're in the sea a minute later. Evenings are for dinner on the terrace at sunset.

  • Cara Cara Resort Most stylish on the island

    Koh Larn

    Cara Cara Resort

A new design-led hotel — we visited while it was still being built and met the founder and the architect. Every detail is considered. The beach is a short ride away, but the atmosphere is worth it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What format is the guide?

A 45-page PDF that reads well on phone and desktop. Every name and image is clickable — linking to maps, websites, menus or bookings. Plus 12 Google Maps lists.

How do I receive the guide?

Automatically, within a few minutes of payment. Check your spam folder if you do not see it. If anything goes wrong, message me on Telegram and I will sort it out.

I am only visiting for a few days. Is it worth it?

Yes. For short trips there are 6 ready-made “Day in Bangkok” plans, and the Google Maps lists help you find a great spot near you in a minute.

I already live in Bangkok. Will it help?

Most likely: many readers have lived here for a while and still find new places — especially local brands, spas and cafés. Plus the neighborhood ranking if you plan to move.

Will there be updates?

Yes, for free. I regularly add new places to the Google Maps lists — they appear in your app automatically.

Does it cover classic sights?

Barely, and on purpose. Those are easy to find. This guide is about modern Bangkok: places where locals and expats actually go.
